The man who grew up in a Democrat family - a family of eleven - travels back home with Lesley Stahl. Within this fourteen minute profile he explains that he is determined to learn the lessons of Newt Gingrich's time leading the House. His Speakership will be less about him, he promises. Defending the tax deal, he says Washington doesn't have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem.

But it is the fact he tears up again - as he did on election night - that is striking. At six and thirteen minutes into this interview he starts crying again.
