OK, that's not the fairest of headlines, but it doesn't make the new Pew poll results any less interesting.
Look at the chart below.
Republicans who report thinking a lot about the 2012 election support Perry over Romney 22% to 15%, with Bachmann behind at 13%. Among the "unreflective," the results are flipped pretty dramatically with Romney at 23% and Perry at 7%, and Bachmann, Palin, and Paul all practically tied in between.
You can see a similar pattern among Tea Party Republicans, whose support among the thinking set is even more pronounced.
The question, of course, is who will drive the election results next year: the thinkers or the unreflective?
