Gallup released its numbers on religiosity and party identification today.
It's no surprise that religious whites are usually Republicans and that religious and non-religious African Americans are usually Democrats.
The numbers on Hispanics and Asians are less a part of the public discourse, but no less important. The trend among those two groups is similar to, though less dramatic than, white.
But the more important conclusion from these numbers is this: as America grows more secular (and it is), it grows more Democratic. Of course, Americans are still largely conservative, but the relationship between the Democratic party and those who don't darken churches' doors is pretty unmistakable.
