The Gallup numbers on Romney really are something. He's clearly answered the question about who benefitted most by the departures of Barbour, Daniels, and Huckabee.
What is stunning is how flatlined Tim Pawlenty has been. He's had a superb rollout, full of video spots, stick-it-to-the-special-interests populism, and some real - if incomplete - ideas on the economy. But he's stuck at 6%, just where he was last month.
Here's what I wish: I wish Gallup and the others showing Romney way out front would see what happens by including unlikely candidates in the mix, such as Chris Christie and Paul Ryan. Polling this far out doesn't have the predictive power some would like us to believe, so let's use it to see where voters' minds are right now. Whom do they really want?
Fortunately, here at ConservativeHome, we include the likes of Christie and Ryan into the mix in our own polling of conservative Republicans.
Check back in the morning for our latest tracking poll results, which we do in partnership with The Daily Caller.
