From Romney strategist Matt Rhoades, word that Romney will skip the Fox debate on Thursday. Though Romney is not an "announced candidate" yet, he looks forward to getting to S.C. to debate "closer to the primary":
Gov. Romney will not be participating in this week’s South Carolina debate because it’s still early, the field is too unsettled and he’s not yet an announced candidate. Fox News and the South Carolina Republican Party have both been notified of this decision. Gov. Romney is planning to visit South Carolina on May 21st and he looks forward to debating there closer to their primary.
It's looking more and more like Pawlenty will be debating himself. Unless Fox's main interest is in providing good material for Saturday Night Live, the network should postpone the event.
Who cares if Romney skips the debate
