In response to the abhorrent atrocities committed by the regime of President Muammar Gaddafi, the UN Security Council has authorized the establishment of a no-fly zone over Libya.
In a vote of ten to zero, with five abstentions (Germany, India, Russia, China and Brazil), the Security Council approved the military action, which some European countries say could be implemented within hours of this evening's vote.
