At the GOP's Pledge to America site, I just saw this:
Throughout the site, there are checkmarks by items that are considered "mission accomplished." This would be one such item.
I think most Tea Partiers would think that the $100 billion mentioned in the text isn't exactly worthy of a checkmark just yet.
And this is where we are. A party desperate to show it is serious about cuts, with leftists in Congress saying the party is too radical and a Tea Party saying it's not radical enough.
With the Pledge, Republicans meant they would do their part to achieve the goal. The Tea Party thought they would not just do their part, but would actually achieve the goal. For the former, a checkmark is warranted. For the latter, the checkmark is cynicism.
