Obama went out of his way in yesterday's speech to communicate that the United States is NOT leading the effort in Libya.
The early reports out of Libya that French planes have fired on their targets (successfully) confirm that Obama was serious. We knew the French and the British were leading, and that their planes would likely be the first in, but hearing the reports is still, well, disorienting.
If the operations succeed, we'll no longer get to use that silly Google French military joke in which you type in "French military victories" and Google asks you if you meant "French military defeats."
