More than this, if Norquist is calling certain tax proposals in the Bowles-Simpson recommendations tax increases, "he’s in Disneyland,” Simpson quipped this morning.
Simpson made the comment on MSNBC's Morning Joe, clearly intending to fight back against Norquist's comments that Republicans who have vowed not to raise taxes would do so by supporting the deficit commission co-chairmen's recommendations.
Herein lies the center of the storm over getting the deficit under control: how to reform the tax code to get the job done. Republicans will need to make explaining that a key agenda item when they take over the House.
