Obama gave away the farm, he has given into sooo much here and he backed the "Gang of Six" plan (it does not get any more bi-partisan than their plan) which is far from anything progressives can get excited about - most have strong heartfelt opposition to it. I've heard GOP house and senate members saying in the media that it is indeed the Tea-party freshmen holding up the works here. Obama is giving into lots of cuts .... The fact is that the government needs REVENUE as well and sure cuts. The vast majority of the public is comfortable letting bush-era tax cuts expire and I'd be happy to create another tax bracket for the uber-wealthy... And yes it is very necessary to look at the irresponsible war / military spending that got us into this mess - Mostly Bush, and yes Obama too. According to Nobel Prize-winning economist Joe Stiglitz, the cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan alone will exceed $5 trillion. With a cost like this, why isn’t war central to the debate over the national debt?

I cannot recall a Presifnt who let the mask slip so quickly.
