Interesting and well put Ryan. Remember though, popular perception is not in the eyes of the NY Times, even polls show this.

I read the other day a blog which stated there are 3 core principles for the Tea Party: fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government and free markets. From what I've read and seen largely via the blogsphere I do agree. While individual members have a wide range of views on social issues anywhere from anti-abortion to drug legalization the movement has risen to power because of these 3, most critical and necessary to our survival at this precise moment in history.
